UNDERSTANDING SHRI SHRI RAMAKRISHNA THAKUR
The great soul who loved humans irrespective of caste, language and religious bar.
The soul who was a great friend of any human being from any works of life, sect, creed or colour.
The soul who was the epitome of devotion and knowledge.
The soul who was like an ocean for any rivers flowing into.
This soul is none other than Shri Shri Ramakrishna Thakur.
Ramakrishna Thakur used to tell,
”Ma amake manush koro,
Ma amake shakti dao” -
Means o mother make me a human, my mother give me strength.
All of us are made up of 206 bones, muscles, nerve , blood ,cells etc. then why Thakur told to make human, as all of us took birth as human. Reason is that our mind need to be stream lined in the right track and that can only happen through spirituality and devotion towards god. These ingredients can help us to make Man in true sense .
Sri Sri Ramakrishna was born to Khudiram Chatterjee and Chandra devi on 17 feb 1836. His father was the inhabitant of Barigram village but the Zaminder of that village drove them out of the village as Khudiram Chatterjee declined to become witness in the court for a Zaminder’s case. At that time Chandra devi was pregnant .The family came on road from there Khudiram chatterjee and his wife was given shelter by Goswami Sukhlal in his house in Kamar Pukhur. Goswami Sukhlal was the boyhood friend of Khudiram Chatterjee. Thus Sri Sri Ramakrishna Thakur was born in Kamar Pukhur and passed his childhood there
Child Ramakrishna showed interest in puja and worshipping the idols. He was not fascinated towards school and studies After the demise of his father , Ramakrishna’s elder brother took him to kolkatta- Dhakineshwar and from there Thakur’s journey of spirituality started in true sense.
Even though Thakur belonged to a high caste Brahmin but he never cared for all those things and used to dine with the people of lower caste, which was unofficial prohibition prevailed during those days.
Gradually Dhakineshwar kali temple and Sri Sri Ramakrishna came to be known all throughout the nation. People from far and wide came to see the Kali temple and seek blessings of Thakur.
Let me site some of the incidents from the life of Sri Sri Ramamkrishna which not only separate him from general people but also saints who lived during that time.
First of all the incident related with Saint Totapuri. Saint Totapuri was from Punjab and he mediated on the bank of river Narmada for 40 years for getting the enlightenment. After that the saint travelled all throughout India and finally reached Dhakinneshwar through Puri. There he met young Ramakrisna, the divine look of Thaur fascinated him and the saint wanted to pass the spiritual power to Thakur. Finally, selecting a day when they set for the spiritual preaching, Saint Totapuri as Guru and Young Ramakrishna as disciple. Thakur chanted and memorized all the mantra which were pronounced by saint Totapuri. After passing the blessings Totapuri kept him locked in a room for three nights and three days and when he opened the door the saint was completely moved by finding the divinity in Sri Sri Ramakrishna. Thakur was in the state of Trans, a supreme level of meditation which saints refer a connection of atma with paramatma ie. self with God.
Let me now bring in front of you all some of the important aspects that happened in the life of Ramakrishna Thakur , which separate him from other spiritual preachers of that time, earlier of that time and also from present day .
In the year 1867 Thakur was highly fascinated towards Islamic religion and took the Islamic religion to understand God and doctrine of that religion. At that time he was a complete Muslim. He used to do Namaz five times in a day and used follow all the principles whatever followed by a true Muslim.
After 7 years ie. In the year 1874, he was inclined towards Christianity and for knowing Jesus Christ and Christianity in depth Thakur took the religion and at that time he became a true Christian. Church was his praying and meditation place and read – discussed only Bible during that time. He mediated for long hours to understand the preaching of Jesus Christ and also felt the presence of Jesus inside him.
After that Thakur was also in other religions like Buddhism, Jainism etc. to understand God through those religions.
Through all these learning Thakur was clear to tell the people that all religions are true and all leads to God .

Thank u so much for giving us a new perspective to understand "Thakur".
