MY PASSION

The Amur falcon is a fascinating migratory raptor.  Every year, the small, resilient birds make the daring voyage from their breeding ground south eastern Siberia and northern China and cross the Arabian sea, during migration and reach India in large flocks. Video by – Santanu Nandi Purkayastha Falcon is the largest travelling migratory birds in the world.  These migratory birds travel from Siberia,China and  halt at Umrangso,( Dt- Dima Hasao, Assam) during their annual journey to South Africa.  Amur falcon are pigeon sized migratory birds origination in Siberia where they breed in summer. As the onset of winter , they fly to India- mainly to North Eastern India and specifically to Umrangso of Assam where they stay for about two months before leaving for South Africa. In South Africa they remain for about four months.   As earlier, due to  lack of awareness these migratory birds were killed for sport, fun and meat.  But gradually ...

Umrangso is blessed by two magnificent waterfalls, one at Panimur and another at 29 km, Miyungna Daogan . Panimur Water fall: Panimur is around 30 km distance away from the Umrangso main centre. Here in , the Kopili river turns into a robust water fall, flowing over the rocks as the water column carves out its way and finally surrenders to the pull of gravity and flows down like a frothy white curtain of water.The enchanting surroundings with lush greenery enhance the beauty of the cascading white water. Dimasa people  consider the place as a holy pilgrimage. During the Magh Purnima native people take a holly bath at the falls. And take the shape, as if we the vessel and filled with venom of highest order. Venom is ready to inject Kill, destroy any, who come on the way. Nature cried, Men screamed  But all around deaf, dumb and blind. None there to react and protect. As if a selfish motive guiding the earth. Oh ! God, we are your highest creation . JAI HIND…… Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was one of the greatest freedom fighters of India who shook the British empire completely and compelled them to leave our country, was born on 23 rd January 1897 in Cuttack to Janaki Nath Bose and Prabhavati Devi. Netaji , a 4 th position holder in the ICS examination held in England 1920,  could have passed his life in Luxuries and comfort but he declined to work under British rule and joined Indian National Congress to free the country from British. In the year 1938 & 1939 he was elected as the President of Indian National Congress but due to the differences of opinion with Gandhiji and his followers he left the congress and formed Forward Block. Due to his active involvement in Freedom struggle he was placed under house arrest by the British. In 1941 he escaped in disguise from Kolkata   and reached Germany through Afghanistan.
